Simplified
We are the best of the worst
And the worst of the best;
We parade how we help,
And then make the biggest mess.
We drive the fastest cars
Because we spend the most cash,
Spend the most time at funerals
For the cars we crash.
Our buildings get bigger,
But our gadgets get smaller;
Riots on the streets
Over a dollar per hour.
When the gas prices go up,
The gas stations shut down;
We’re all driving insane
To get the best price in town.
We can wave one flag,
While burning another.
When cash gets tight,
We can sue our own mothers.
We’re all interconnected,
Thanks to AT&T.
We know more about celebrities
Than you and me.
Walking with our headphones in;
Thumbs texting away.
Shutting out the world,
Just like we did yesterday.
We have a freedom of speech,
But no one wants to hear it.
We should be making peace,
But we’re too mad to come near it.
The never ending
Deficit spending
Got Bush mending
And pretending
The troops he’s sending
He’s just lending
To a cause—with no effect.
And he won’t leave
Til’ there’s no ‘Raquis left.
The ‘07 Budget’s out
And it’s really quite something:
Art, Sp. Ed, and Drug Ed. in schools
Has been reduced to nothing.
It’s beginning to seem
A little concerning
When Bush doesn’t want
The special kids learning.
But who’s got the money these days
When your country’s at war?
But now they’re killing each other,
So what are we there for?
But despite all of the circumstances,
I guess we’re doing okay;
Even if the sun won’t rise tomorrow,
I’ll just order one off E-Bay.
Just like E-Bay, we have been given it all
To the very last bit.
But we’re a generation of rebels
And don’t want any of it.
We live larger than life
And feed our bodies ‘til they burst;
No doubt we are the billion
That McDonalds’ serves.
We pollute the earth,
Pirate songs for our ears,
Eyes glued to the tube
Until we can’t see clear.
We pledge our allegiance
And then quickly take back the rest—
It’s a hellish world we live in
So bless the U.S.
